Tenting just off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Bobblets Shelter
Today can be summed up in one sentence. A perfect day of hiking with perfect weather, a perfect trail and perfect hiking buddies.
I can't believe that we have made it to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The next 100 miles or so if I remember correctly are fun and fairly easy. And better yet there is road access often making it easier for Batman to resupply and or join us.
We slack packed out of Troutville this morning and arrived at our destination with leftover energy and time so we went almost 2 miles further allowing us to tent off a parking area with a picnic table and trash can. Items most people take for granted.
We have decided that we love slack packing and car camping. Batman meets us at the end of the day when we gather our gear. Set up camp close to the car and the store ourthings back in the car for the night. No hanging food bags in a tree. No filtering water. He brings us water. It's a great way to hike the trail. I just wish he didn't have to work so he could join us all the time.
Ending the day with a perfect sunset.
Happy Hiking.
