Connecticut, The Gateway To New England
Day 134
Friday August 4, 2017
Miles: 1454.6 - 1467.3 Completed: 12.4
Time: 7:15am - 4:05pm
Weather: Cloudy, hot, a drizzle and storm in the distance
We finally made it to New England. Each day we are closer to Katahdin. Connecticut doesn't mess around. It woke us up. No more gentle slopes and touristy trails like New York and some of the southern states. We did some good climbs with rocks galore. It was fun and tiring at the same time.
We had hoped to get arrive in town early enough for some perusing and munchies. The heat, terrain and slippery rocks from an afternoon thundershower foiled that. Just as we were approaching the ice cream shop in Kent, CT our ride showed up to wish away for another rest day. Jay let us get our treats before heading back to the house.
Once home we enjoyed a swim in the pool and pizza. Gotta love family. Sharons sister, brother in law, and nieces are hosting us a second time on this journey. They are superb. Tomorrow we will do the usual zero day chores and hopefully rest.
Happy Hiking.
