Holy Week

Monday's montage of faith.

Faith - What is it? According to Google, faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The Complete & Unabridged The Little & Ives Webster Dictionary and Home Reference Library goes into a little more detail. "1.Trust, confidence, belief, reliance: to have faith in. 2. a Personal realization of the truth of divine revelation: to have faith in God; Phr. faith can remove mountains; b system of belief.

There are ten more lines defining the definition of faith in the Complete Unabridged. I guess for a book 5" thick you can expect details.

While Google is handy and Webster is reliable, my go to reference for such subjects would be the Bible. Hebrews 11:1 informs us that, "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen."

When I began blogging, my goal was not to stand on a pedestal while promoting fire and brimstone or some political agenda. No one likes that, including myself. I just wanted to share with everyone my adventures. As far as a political platform, I will not cross that line. There is enough division in this world and I do not want to be a part of it.

My faith is part of me though and I can't, or won't hide that. I prefer the subtle approach. I believe you can attract more bees with honey, in fact, fire will scare them away. I do not announce my beliefs with flags and horns, but if an opportunity presents itself, I will seize the moment.

Since I am not "escapading" on adventures to write about, Holy Week is just that moment to capitalize on a faith moment. These are terrible times we are going through. This world has not seen a health epidemic like this since 1918. Yes, people are getting sick! Yes, people are dying! Yes, people are going to have financial troubles! It all is happening. But let's not lose faith.

They say there are no atheists in foxholes. Well, my friend, we are all in a foxhole right now, stuck in our homes. I don't have the answers but I do know that faith has helped me be strong during a crisis. At least our foxholes aren't being bombarded with artillery.

While the world is falling apart around us, may you find strength in faith. If you already have it, now is a good time to delve deeper. If you have not found it and or are a doubter, now is a good time to start. Maybe you don't even know what Holy week is. I am not going to tell you.

Begin small. Just ask Google any question. You may find your Google answer to be vague but it is a start and may lead you to another reference with more detail. If your interest is peaked further, I recommend picking up your bible, if it is like mine, at times needs to be dusted off. If you don't have one, Google, Kindle, and the App store have plenty.

Holy week is a great time go embark on a faith adventure. If you are not sure where to start or just need a little boost, feel free to message me and we can go on the journey together. While I am quite comfortable leading day hikes and even overnights in the back country, I have limited skills for a spiritual adventure, but I have faith that it will be exciting. Just remember Faith without works is dead. That's another topic for another day.
