It’s a Different Kind of Beautiful
Hiking the Appalachian Trail is so much more than the fantasy that wanna-be thru-hikers dream of. PROGRESS
I will admit, my start to this hike was brutal. Mentally I was prepared, but physically, I was so not ready. But I didn’t quit, even as my heart pounded in my chest with each sluggish step forward uphills. I had fooled myself into thinking I would be “fine.” Well, I am fine but it sure is taking a toll on my motivation and confidence; especially when an 80 year old lady passes me going the opposite direction all sprite and spirited and my head is drooped in exhaustion. Here I Go Again - A.T. Thru-Hike #3
What in the world am I doing? I love this trail and everything it has done for me, but who do I think I am heading out in February no less, to thru-hike the A.T. again? Crazy, that's who I am. I will be upfront. I am struggling. I don't recommend doing this overweight and out of shape. Bah-hum-bug. But, I am out here and doing it, one step at a time.
